Abstract:
Foucault's discussion of parrēsia brings up issues of his general view of discourse, the relation between history and the present, the relation between context and general context, along with the relation of norms to Foucault's concerns with subjectivity and styles of living. The paper will examine these concerns, guided by the overall aim of how to understand Foucauldian parrēsia in relations to norms of free speech.
