My accidentally modern career by İlker Yöney, TURKASSET Varlık Yönetim A.Ş.
Abstract: İlker believes everyone in life has a purpose, even if it's to serve as a bad example. In that spirit, he will talk about his nonsensical career journey from engineering and entrepreneurship, to equity research to academia, to the World Bank, then to private equity and finally (for now) back to entrepreneurship and senior management in the finance industry. Specifically he will talk about his many wrong turns, false starts, bad investments and the bad influences he befriended along the way.
Bio: İlker Yöney has been the Chief Operating Officer of Turkasset Varlık Yönetim A.Ş. since April 2014. İlker joined Turkasset in 2009 as its Investments Director. Prior to Turkasset, he served in various asset management and private equity roles in investment companies in the US, UAE, and Turkey, including the World Bank Group's International Finance Corporation. He is also a founder and Board Member of Tam Faktoring A.Ş. İlker graduated from Bogaziçi University (Department of Chemical Engineering) and holds an MBA from Yeditepe University, an MSc in Finance from INSEAD, and an MA in Applied Economics from John Hopkins University.
