Dr. Lloyd Rieber & Dr. Secil Yemen Karpuzcu will be sharing their experience with carrying out design-based research in their fields of study. There will be an interactive session at the end of the seminar in which young researchers and doctoral students can have the opportunity to discuss their own research ideas & questions with the experts.
Speakers: Lloyd P. Rieber is a Professor of Learning, Design, and Technology and Chair of the Department of Career and Information Studies in the Mary Frances Early College of Education at the University of Georgia. His research career of over 40 years has focused on design topics such as microworlds, simulations, games, accessibility, online learning, MOOCs, and most recently Q pedagogy. Dr. Seçil Yemen Karpuzcu has been working as an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics Education, Education Faculty at Kütahya Dumlupınar University since September 2018. She graduated from Kocaeli University Primary Education Mathematics Teaching program with a degree in 2007 and got her master's degree from Dokuz Eylül University in the mathematics education field. She completed her doctorate, with the best thesis award, at the Middle East Technical University, in 2017, where at the same time, she was working as a research assistant. She has publications on the use of technology in teaching and learning mathematics. Her research interest also comprises the teacher education field. She is currently working as a researcher in the TUBITAK 1003 project, called "Examination of Secondary School Mathematics Teachers' Professional Awareness Skills for Students' Mathematical Thinking, and Transferring them to the Learning Environment".
